I love the creamy and smooth texture of this drink, which is so perfect with the Greek Yogurt and berries – this is one of the best smoothie recipes, such a treat when blueberries are in season. This is a great refreshing morning smoothie, or great after a workout. It’s sweet, tangy, and loaded with good-for-you ingredients.

What’s In This Greek Yogurt Smoothie with Berries?

  • Blueberries – you can use fresh or frozen
  • Banana
  • Flaxseed Meal: I always add a scoop in my recipes for a little extra nutritional punch!  This flaxseed meal has a wonderful nutty flavor too. 
  • Greek Yogurt – make sure it’s plain and unsweetened!  You can use a fat free Greek yogurt like this one (it’s our favorite!) or a full fat yogurt too. Make sure you get Greek yogurt and not plain yogurt, the thickness really makes this dish fantastic!
  • Old Fashioned Oats: I use old fashioned oats for this recipe. I found old fashioned oats work much better than quick oats, as they hold up really well while being blended.
  • Water
  • Orange Juice

The Best Blender for the Job

I recommend using a good-quality high speed blender for this recipe. I have a fantastic Vitamix blender, which I have been using for years, and it gets daily use in our home.

Choose a blender that has a lot of power, and can pulverize even the toughest of ingredients. My blender can chop ice, dates, frozen fruits, make soups, and even blend nuts into homemade nut butter. Using a good high-speed blender will make perfectly creamy smoothies and sauces every time!

Frozen Fruit Recipes For the Win!

I used frozen blueberries and banana in this smoothie instead of fresh. By using freezer ingredients, I can stock up when they are on sale, and use them in all kinds of great dishes. It saves me a trip to the store, and I can have frozen fruit to use in smoothies in no time.

How Do I Make This Berry Greek Yogurt Recipe?

  1. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender.
  2. Blend on low, and increase speed until all fruit/yogurt are blended and the smoothie is a creamy consistency.

  • 1 cup Greek Yogurt
  • 1 cup blueberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 banana frozen
  • 2 tablespoons old fashioned oats
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 3 cups water
